An exceptional evening with Véronique Boone and the screening of amateur films shot by architect Ernest Weissmann (1903-1985), who worked with Le Corbusier at the 35 rue de Sèvres studio. These never-before-seen films, shot with a Pathé Motocamera between 1929 and 1933, show moments in the life of the architects at this start-up of the Mouvement Moderne, and show Le Corbusier's friendships with Pierre Jeanneret, José Luis Sert, Charlotte Perriand, Norman Rice, Kunio Maekawa, Sigfried Giedion and others.

A superb book (in English) accompanies the screening. Some copies will be available at Villa Le Lac. Six chapters present snapshots from the film and place them in their historical context: the construction of the Villa Savoye, the manufacture of bricks, the life of Ernest Weissmann, his long-standing relationship with Le Corbusier, and more.

Ernest Weissmann (1903–1985) was a Croatian architect, developer and planner during the Yugoslav era. After graduating from the Faculty of Architecture in Zagreb, he worked for Adolf Loos, Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret in Paris. He devoted his career to developing the concept of prefabricated hospitals and to urban planning from social and economic perspectives. He was an active member of the Congrès Internationaux d'Architecture Moderne (CIAM) from 1929 to 1947. From 1942 to 1966, he worked for the United States Board of Economic Warfare, the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration, the Economic Commission, and the Department of Economic and Social Affairs. At the UN, he was responsible for global housing, construction and planning.
